Terms of Service

1. Who we are and what this document is

These Terms govern the use of the “Meridian Certified Translations” website (the “Service”) and the provision of information and assistance services. By using the site or placing an order, you accept these Terms.

2. Nature of the Service (important)

2.1. The Service is an independent private online service. We are not a government agency, state-owned company, notary office, law firm or official bureau, we do not provide legal advice or legal representation, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government institution (including, for US-related services, USCIS or the U.S. Department of State).

2.2. Orders are fulfilled in cooperation with third parties, qualified lawyers, notaries, certified translators and specialised agents. Notarial acts, apostilles and the issuance of official documents are performed exclusively by the persons and authorities empowered to do so.

2.3. Information on the site (prices, timelines, procedures) is for general guidance only, does not constitute legal advice and does not replace consulting a qualified professional. The exact terms of each order are confirmed when it is placed.

2.4. You can obtain official documents yourself by applying directly to the competent authorities at their official fees. The Service offers paid assistance with that process.

3. Orders and payment

3.1. Orders are placed via the site’s forms, messengers or email. The contract is concluded when the Service confirms the order and payment (in full or in part) is made.

3.2. The price of each order is calculated individually and confirmed before work begins. Prices on the site are indicative. The price may include official fees the Service pays on your behalf.

3.3. Payment is made by the methods specified at checkout. Payments are processed by third-party payment providers.

4. Timelines

Timelines stated on the site and at order placement are estimates: the actual timeline depends on authorities, notaries, postal services and other third parties. The Service makes reasonable efforts to meet stated timelines but cannot guarantee those dependent on third parties.

5. Client obligations

5.1. Provide complete and accurate data and documents. The consequences of inaccurate data (refusal by an authority, extra costs, delays) are borne by the client.

5.2. Use the obtained documents solely for lawful purposes. The Service does not provide document forgery, circumvention of law, or submission of false information to authorities, such requests are declined.

5.3. Respond promptly to the Service’s requests needed to fulfil the order.

6. Cancellation and refunds

6.1. You may cancel an order before fulfilment begins, with a refund of the amount paid less costs already incurred.

6.2. After fulfilment has begun, the unperformed portion is refunded pro rata, less costs incurred. Official fees paid to authorities and the cost of work already performed by third parties are non-refundable.

6.3. If the order cannot be fulfilled through the Service’s fault, the full amount is refunded. If fulfilment is impossible because an authority refuses for reasons attributable to the client (inaccurate data, encumbrances, bans), the amount less incurred costs is refunded.

6.4. EU/EEA consumers, right of withdrawal (14 days). If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you may withdraw from the contract within 14 days without giving reasons. By requesting that performance begin before that period expires, you agree that once the service has been fully performed the right of withdrawal is lost, and that if you withdraw before full performance you will pay for the part already performed. 7. Liability

7.1. The Service is responsible for the proper performance of its own obligations. The Service’s aggregate liability for any order is limited to the amount actually paid for that order.

7.2. The Service is not liable for: decisions, acts or omissions of public authorities (including refusal to issue a document); delays caused by third parties (post, couriers, authorities); the client’s use of the documents; losses caused by inaccurate data provided by the client.

7.3. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law or deprives consumers of rights guaranteed by applicable consumer protection legislation.

8. Intellectual property

Site content (texts, structure, design) belongs to the Operator or is used on lawful grounds. Commercial copying without permission is prohibited.

9. Personal data

Personal data processing is governed by the Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.

10. Changes and governing law

10.1. The Operator may update these Terms; the new version applies from publication on this page and does not apply to already-paid orders without the client’s consent.

10.2. The law of the Operator’s country applies unless mandatory rules of the consumer’s country provide otherwise. Disputes are resolved by negotiation and, failing that, in court under the applicable law.
